Desert Penstemon This perennial is also know as rock penstemon and baccharis-leaf beardtongue. The clustered spikes of cherry or coral-red tubular flowers line the 1 - 1 1/2 foot tall stalks. These flowers, which attract hummingbirds, bloom from June to September. The dark green leaves are often hairy. It is found in the deserts of Arizona and the Sonoran Desert.
