Pot Bellied Pig
Sus scrofa

  

Description:  Domesticated dwarf swine.  Large head.  Short, powerful and agile neck.  Coarse, bristly coat. Four toes on each foot.  Usually 70 - 150 lbs, but can reach 250 lbs.

 

Range:  Asia.

 

Diet:  Fruit, roots, bulbs, grasses, leaves, tubers.  Sometimes insect larvae, frogs, mice an earthworms.

 

General Information:  Good sense of smell and hearing.  The male is larger that the female.  The male has more pronounced tusks.  Wild pigs were domesticated around 7000 BC in the Middle East from the wild boar.  They range in weight from 20 pounds in the Pygmy Hog to 600 pounds in the Giant Forest Hog.
