California Fuchsia
Zauschneria californica

The California Fuchsia is found on dry slopes and ridges from sea level to high in the mountains from Oregon to Baja California, and east to New Mexico. It is also known as Hummingbird’s Trumpet and California Firechalice due to the red, trumpet-shaped flowers, which bloom from August to October. The bright scarlet flowers produce nectar, supplying hummingbirds with food for the start of their southward migration.
