Dune Lupine
Lupinus chamissonis

 


 

This shrub is also known as Chamisso's  lupine, silvery lupine, and beach blue lupine.  A member of the pea family, the leaves are bluish-green and the purple-blue flowers bloom from April to July.

 

 

 


Native American Usage


Various species of Lupinus were utilized.  The plants were used as an aid for indigestion and gas.  An infusion was taken for hiccups.  It was also used for bladder trouble.
