Common Crow
Corvus brachyrhynchos

Description:  Black bird, smaller than a raven.  17” - 21”. 

Range:  North America from nothern treeline to desert belt, except Pacific Northwest. 

Habitat:  Fields, beaches, woods, parks, coasts, river grooves. 

Vocalizations:  Caw. 

Diet:  Feeds on a variety of plant and animal food, including seeds, insects, eggs, nestlings, and mice.                 

Nest:  4-6 greenish, spotted eggs.  The bowl-shaped nest is lined with plant material.  The bulky nest is found 10’ - 50’ in a tree. 

General Information:    This social bird may roost in groups with as many as three hundred birds.  The crow has a rounded tail while the raven has a wedge-shaped tail.
