Carolina Yellow Jasmine
Gelsemium sempervirens

The Carolina yellow jasmine is also known as the Carolina jessamine.  This evergreen vine is native to the southeastern United States, but is widely grown as an ornamental plant in mild climate areas.  All parts of the Carolina jasmine are poisonous.

The vine grows 10-20 feet and will quickly cover tree trunks, trellises, fences or other supports.  The 2-4" long leaves and green and waxy.  The fragrant yellow flowers bloom in late winter and early spring.  The brown fruit is a flattened winged capsule.
