Bobcat
Felis rufus

  
 

 

Description:  Heavy build, large feet and short tail.  Weighs up to 30 pounds.  Ear tufts and ear spots.  Light brown fur with dark spots and stripes.  Its belly is white with black markings. 

Range:  Southern Canada to southern Mexico. 

Habitat:  Forests, thickets, swamps, deserts, mountains. 

Diet:   Rodents, small ungulates (hoofed mammals), rabbits, porcupine, large ground-dwelling birds. 

General Information:  Nocturnal (active at night).
